I’m Katharina and I’m an abstract artist living and painting in Hamburg, Germany.

Finding visual inspiration in nature and especially by the sea, I paint mixed-media abstract pieces bringing organic forms and earthy colors on paper or canvas. In my process I select the materials with intention as I highly value authenticity and texture: Each of my paintings highlights the interplay of different textures such as creamy marks, sand infused paint, raw canvas and natural wood framing.

Creative expression with brushes and paint has accompanied me since I was a young girl, but it wasn’t until my second son’s birth two years ago that I started painting every night. This daily practice allows me to process experiences and emotions and to calm my mind - even when my daily life with two young boys gets really busy. Mixing colors and performing intuitive movements on canvas or paper are my form of meditation.

My hope is that my work offers an invitation to take things slowly and inspires you to find some inner peace and calm for yourself.
